When we walk on the street, we are easy to be attracted by the young and skinny girls. They are thought to have the perfect body shape, which makes them stand out. The commerical ads also implant people the idea that only the skinny body shape can make them beautiful. Thus a lot of people try to lose weight by all means.

To be skinny, a lot of young girls choose to eat less food, some even refuse to eat food. When they are hungry, they are doing other things to distract their attention. It is known to all that having no breakfast will do harm to people’s health. It is not worth to keep thin at the cost of damaging health.

Some people may say that the celebrities show them the good example of eating less food. But they ignore the fact that these people are under the experts’ direction. Even though they eat less, they keep balanced diet. That’s the secret to keep them beautiful.

Young girls should be wise and accept who they are. The healthy and confident image bring charm.

"mom, you should put some of your things away. baby proof this house," stated our oldest son mark as he lumbered up the stairs followed by his wife, kim, and fifteen-month-old hannah.

visiting for the thanksgiving holiday, he finished unloading the luggage and took it to the guestroom downstairs. after driving all day from salt lake to ft. collins, his temper showed. "that one finger rule may work with the twins, but it'll never work with hannah, " he insisted. when my three granddaughters were born four months apart and the twins moved into our house at eight months, my close friend offered me her secret to entertaining grandchildren with few mishaps. "teach them the 'one finger rule'." all of her five grandchildren learned it at a young age. the success of the method surprised me. i picked up my granddaughter and said, "well, mark, you just watch." i hugged her and walked all around the great room.

"hannah, you may touch anything in this room you want. but, you can only use one finger." i demonstrated the technique by touching my forefinger to the african sculpture on the mantle. hannah followed my example. "good girl. now what else would you like to touch?" she stretched her finger toward another object on the mantle. i allowed her to touch everything in sight, plants, glass objects, tv, vcr, lamps, speakers, candles and artificial flowers. if she started to grab, i gently reminded her to use one finger. she always obeyed. but, hannah, an only child, possessed a more adventur ous personality. her father predicted it would prevent her from accepting the"one finger"rule.

during their four-day stay, we aided hannah in remembering"one finger"rule. she learned quickly. i only put away the things that might prove to be a danger to a child. otherwise, we watched her closely and nothing appeared to suffer any damage. besides, "things"can be replaced. a few fingerprints on glass doors, windows and tables remained after hannah and her family returned home. i couldn't bring myself to clean them for days. each one reminded me of some wonderful experience with hannah. months later, my husband and i drove to salt lake; i watched mark and kim continue to practice the one finger rule. but i refrained from saying, "i told you so." yet, i smiled inwardly each time they prodded hannah to touch with "one finger. " mark, a salesman, always gave a packet of gifts to his potential clients. the night before we returned home, mark sat on the floor stuffing gifts into their packets. hannah helped.

then she picked up one gift, held it in her hand as if it were a fragile bird, and walked toward me. at my knee, her beautiful blue eyes looked into mine. she stretched her prize to me and said, "one finger, nana!"

Graduated, off grade senior students, now the bid farewell to our own.

At the end of the day, no one would have thought the class teacher, too, a few girls have been crying together. Although the boys did not cry, they were trying to suppress the hidden pain in their hearts. In the last class, everyone was silent and thought the class was so short. At ordinary times, thousands of students wait for the bell to ring. It seems to be very early today. Some people begin to pack up things silently, as if they want to pack three years of memories into their bags. Today a farewell, I do not know whether tomorrow can see each other, the young US, leave in the most splendid setting sun.

Farewell dinner, everyone is drunk. No cry, wine has become a cry. Drunk, it is hard to do silly things. Three years, we have already had an emotional class 2, which is the other home of our group.

The familiar campus, the familiar teacher, the familiar classmates... Everything is so familiar, but so far away. The thought of leaving here to start a new life, and the strong people of the day are also sad. This is the way of life. In retrospect, the report of junior high school seems to be yesterday. For a short time, we have been waving goodbye. Only when we leave, we do not know how to appreciate the happiness and value of our meeting.

No, campus... No, students... No, dear teacher... No, my pure youth...

Students, go all the way, farewell is not what we mean, we will not forget each other, we will never forget the happiness and goodness we have been together. I will always accompany you on your way forward.

All kinds of inventions made possible by technology are designed to be the slaves of human beings, if human beings are not to be slaved by machines. Once upon a time, we were plain people, but that was before we began having relationships with technological systems. By getting involved with computerized machines, we could not help changing the way we live and the way we work, for better or for worse It can be realized that life is more complex because much of modern technology is not born to meet primary human needs, and many "unnecessary" inventions are producing negative effects on a living style that used to be relatively simple. Thus, there is an overwhelming feeling of complexity in the sense that machines act like humans and humans act like machines. Now that "intelligent" machines such as robots are widely applied to take the place of human beings because they are capable of doing many useful jobs, although making many people jobless. Those who cannot work with computers are disadvantaged and therefore helpless while the traditional skills and simple ways of life are fading away, never to return again.

諺語(yǔ)在英語(yǔ)中叫proverb,引用時(shí)經(jīng)常會(huì )在其前面酌情加上old, Chinese, English, Russian之類(lèi)的形容詞;動(dòng)詞一般用go, say, state, has it, put it等,在這些動(dòng)詞后面用逗號或冒號皆可。

  (1) A proverb goes / says, ……

  As a / the proverb goes / says, ……

A Yiddish proverb goes, “Better to lose with a wise man than win with a fool.”

A proverb says, “Medicine cures the man who is fated not to die.”

As a Chinese proverb goes, “Don’t climb a tree to look for fish.”

As the old Chinese proverb says, “If you do not enter a tiger’s den, you cannot get her cubs.”

  (2) As a / the proverb has it / puts it,……

A proverb has it that ……

As a Spanish proverb has it, “Flies don’t enter a closed mouth.”

As a Navajo proverb puts it, “What comes around goes around.”

As a local proverb here in Chad puts it: A woman who is pregnant has one foot in the grave.

An old proverb has it that “if the thorn doesn't scratch when it first emerge, it will never scratch.”

  (3) There is a proverb: ……

There is a / the proverb that goes / states, ……

There’s an African proverb: “Educate a boy, and educate an individual. Educate a girl, and you educate a community.” There’s a Russian proverb that goes: you must support the most talented people because untalented people will support themselves.

There is an old Jewish proverb that states: “A Shekel is always better in my pocket than in yours.”

  (4) ……, a / the proverb goes, ……

  ……, goes a / the proverb, ……

“A river is deep,” an old African proverb goes, “because of its source.”

To kill a snake, goes an old African proverb, you must first crush the head.

  (5) …… have a proverb that goes, ……

There exists a proverb. It goes, ……

The Arabs have a proverb that goes, “When the sultan’s dog died, everyone marched in his funeral. But when the sultan himself died, no one marched at all.”

As a Chinese proverb goes, a dog cannot change its habit of eating shit. A leopard cannot change its spots. 或者A fox may grow gray, but never good.
