背景：Harrod 當過(guò)十八個(gè)月的推銷(xiāo)員。他雖然很喜歡同各地銷(xiāo)售商打交道，單卻不愿經(jīng)常出差。他把這個(gè)問(wèn)題向銷(xiāo)售經(jīng)理放映過(guò)幾次，可公司并沒(méi)有其他適合他的職位，所以他只好辭職。
Dear Benson:
I am sure it will come as no surprise to you that I wish to resign my position as a sales representative , effective at your convenience ,but not later than June 12.
You are fully aware of my problem, Benson. Although I like the company and the people I work with, being on the road for weeks at a time does not appeal to me. I think the situation would be entirely different if I were single or even married with no children. But with two youngsters , traveling represents a real hardship on me and especially on my wife. After each trip it gets increasingly harder for me to treat myself away from my family to go back on the road.
I really have no plans at the moment. I need to take some time to think about what I want to do. I may try to get back into coaching and I’m also considering buying into a local sporting goods store. Whatever I wind up doing, it will have to be something that will permit me to stay anchored in one place.
Thank you for everything you have done for me. I really don’t know how I could received better treatment from a company or a manager.

五年后的今天，我終于將離開(kāi)這里，擺脫困境，尋找自己新的方向和目標了。個(gè)中緣由，不得不向大家交待，以正視聽(tīng)。 five years ago, i joined **. today, i have to escape from here to find a new start. some truth you have to know before my leaving.
不得不承認，**公司曾經(jīng)是個(gè)在環(huán)境上令人感覺(jué)愉快，協(xié)調和沒(méi)有任何地域，種族和性別歧視的公司;曾經(jīng)是個(gè)在工作上令人積極向上，自覺(jué)自愿付出只為達成目標的公司;在管理上令人感覺(jué)人性，科學(xué)有效的公司;在同事關(guān)系上融洽友愛(ài)，互幫互助的公司。所有這一切相信也是所有在這里工作了五年以上的員工的共同感受吧?
孰料曾幾何時(shí)，風(fēng)云突變;黑云壓城，草木變色;奸佞當道，梁斷瓦落。所有的優(yōu)良傳統和美好愿望在我身上不復重現。相信大家也會(huì )知道，沒(méi)有萬(wàn)不得已的原因，我為何要離開(kāi)?沒(méi)有發(fā)生種種不幸的事端，我為何要離開(kāi)呢?看了下文的`羅列，我相信很少有人會(huì )不贊同我的決定了：
1) 作為新生兒的母親，我無(wú)法進(jìn)行正常的休假申請以應對各種突發(fā)狀況諸如小孩生病等。因為主管規定，必須于一周前提前申報休假，不允許有突發(fā)事情的發(fā)生。 as a mother of new-born baby, i cannot apply for annual leave to face up any sudden incidents, because my supervisor rules every leave must be applied one week before leaving. no excuse for emergency incidents.
2) 在哺乳期內，我無(wú)法享受公司對于哺乳期員工的提前下班的待遇，被主管要求加班，但不允許在oa上事先提交加班申請。因而，我不能獲得應得的加班費。 during the breastfeeding period, i cannot get the early leave treatment as other female staff in breastfeeding period. on contrast, i had to work overtime. more the worse, i cannot get my ot salary as my supervisor doesn’t allow me to apply for ot on oa.
3) 為了評價(jià)我工作是否及時(shí)，是否匹配公司核心價(jià)值的依據，我被主管強迫針對每一個(gè)工作動(dòng)作進(jìn)行精確到秒的計算，直接主管要求我自己掐秒表進(jìn)行相關(guān)計算。在已經(jīng)進(jìn)入21世紀的現在，我難道連解放前的包身工還不如嗎? in order to evaluate if the efficiency of my work accords with the core value of the company, i was forced to use stopwatch to calculate my every action. i feel myself a slave in the 21st century.
4) 我的直接主管聲稱(chēng)，她所定義的工作不做完，不能進(jìn)行正常的午餐休息。 my supervisor rules i cannot go for lunch if i don’t complete the work she dispatched.
5) 在**公司的五年我一如既往的工作�？墒亲罱肽曛�，我瞬間變得一無(wú)是處，飽受謾罵和無(wú)端的指責。直接主管多次當眾對我進(jìn)行辱罵，問(wèn)我“是不是外地人?聽(tīng)不懂人話(huà)?”之類(lèi)的粗鄙之言。事后她又拒不道歉，還百般狡辯，不承認半年多來(lái)對我的辱罵。 in the past five years, i tried my best to do my job. no cap, no complaints. suddenly, i become nothing and a bad employee when she joined **. she insulted and blamed me many times in public, such as “are you not shanghainese? don’t you understand human language?” when i apply for resign and ask her to apology, she even didn’t committee what she said and what she did.
6) 如果所有上述這一切同時(shí)發(fā)生在你身上，并且陪伴著(zhù)你渡過(guò)大半年以后，你是否會(huì )不得不離開(kāi)? if all above things happened to you in the last six months, will you choose to leave as i?
時(shí)至今日，我想起**先生在新員工培訓時(shí)所作“四個(gè)滿(mǎn)意”的理論，不勝唏噓! i still remember the “four satisfactions” of mr. ** when i attended new staff orientation. what a pity!
